On the 14th day of the bright fortnight in the month of Phalguna, Maha Shivratri is celebrated as the divine wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Special worship and night vigils are organized, and Lord Shiva’s procession is taken out from the temple. Devotees observe a fast, offering Bel leaves, Datura, and Bhang to Lord Shiva.
